I started my first business at 25 and I did not know what I was doing. High-ticket web design, no sales training, no playbook. I learned by getting told no.
For a stretch of that, I slept in my mentor's office. I'd work until the building was empty and then stay in it. I was afraid the whole time — afraid it wouldn't work, afraid of what people would think, afraid I'd wasted the bet.
What kept me going wasn't motivation. Motivation had left months earlier. It was the fact that I had nowhere else to put my energy and I believed the work would eventually compound.
Sometimes your biggest season of struggle is preparing you for your biggest season of growth. I didn't know that at the time. I know it now.
